New York Jets Odds

The New York Jets are a storied football franchise with one Super Bowl championship in their trophy case.

Unfortunately, it’s been a while since the Jets have shown consistent succes. The franchise’s last AFC East  title came in 2002. The current version of the team is built around young quarterback Sam Darnold while the defense is looking for their identity. There is a lot of pressure on head coach Adam Gase to deliver results in his second season as the team’s coach.

Heading into the 2020 season, there was hope the team that won six of their final eight games in 2019 would carry that momentum over.

But that hasn’t been the case.

The NJ sports betting options include wagering on weekly games, whether or not the team will finish 0-16, and much more via New Jersey sportsbook apps.

This page will walk you through your options and how to get started.

What are the odds on the next Jets game?

Will the New York Jets is will they be the first NFL team since the 2017 Cleveland Browns to finish 0-16?  Obviousy, it’s a list every franchise tries to avoid. Here is a look at the best odds NJ sportsbooks apps are offering on the Jets next game.

What are the odds for the Jets to win the Super Bowl?

The Jets entered the 2020 NFL season with odds of 85/1 to win the Super Bowl. Only five teams in the entire league had longer odds. While the current Jets are not going to come up in Super Bowl betting conversations, here’s where to find the current odds of New York winning it all.

You can also wager on the Jets to win the AFC or AFC East.

How to bet on Jets’ player props and futures

The Point spread, moneylines, and total points may be the more popular wagers, but props and futures are part of NFL betting, too. These bet types give you alternative ways to bet on or against the Jets – or any other NFL team. Plus,  you can often find value with these types of wagers.

Props are related to player or team performance. Here are a couple of examples:

  • Will Sam Darnold throw an interception?
  • Will Breshad Perriman score first touchdown?

A team prop might be something like predicting how many wins the Jets will finish with.

Futures are long-term bets that are decided further down the road. That might be something like betting on who’ll be Rookie of the Year or Coach of the Year awards. Wagering on which team will win the Super Bowl also falls into this category.

These bets lock bettors in for a long period of time, but offer big paydays when your pick is right on the money

Jets 2020 draft picks

  • First round – Mekhi Becton, OT, Louisville

Mekhi Becton

  • Second round – Denzel Mims, WR, Baylor
  • Third round –  Ashtyn Davis, S, California
  • Third round – Jabari Zuniga, DE, Florida
  • Fourth round – La’Mical Perine, RB, Florida
  • Fourth round – James Morgan, QB, Florida International
  • Fourth round –  Cameron Clark, OT, UNC Charlotte
  • Fifth round – Bryce Hall, CB, Virginia
  • Sixth round – Braden Mann, P, Texas A&M

10 of the most notable Jets’ draft picks from past decade:

2019: Defensive tackle Quinnen Williams, a 2019 first-round pick, has considerable upside and will be key if the Jets are going to take a big leap forward on defense. High picks simply have to hit for a franchise that continues to struggle as often as the Jets have in recent years.

2018: The Jets drafted Sam Darnold No. 3 overall. In 2020 training camp, Darnold has had moments where he’s looked fantastic, like a franchise star, and then there have been times where he’s looked really shaky. Through six games, he had more interceptions (six) than touchdowns (three).

2018: Tight end Chris Herndon, a fourth-round pick out of the University of Miami, was  a pleasant surprise. as a rookie with 502 receiving yards and four touchdowns. It also happens to be the last time he caught a TD.

2017: Safety Jamal Adams, the sixth overall pick, was traded to the Seattle Seahawks for multiple picks and safety Bradley McDougald. Many analysts felt the Jets got sufficient value for Adams, but they have to nail the draft picks the Seahawks gave them in order for the deal to turn out the right way.

2015: Defensive end Leonard Williams, who also went No. 6 in the first round, is now a member of the New York Giants. He produced well for the Jets, but represents yet another high-profile player who could not stick with this team for the long haul. This is what marks losing franchises.

2014: Defensive back Calvin Pryor was selected No. 18 in the first round. Pryor is out of the league, his career presumably over after a fight with a teammate and, more centrally, injuries which cut his career short.

2014: Receiver Quincy Enunwa, sixth round, pick No. 209, was one of the promising picks the Jets have managed to pluck from the NFL Draft in recent years. However, he has a history of chronic neck injuries, and the franchise released Enunwa over the summer. He is an unrestricted free agent.

2013: Defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson, first round, pick No. 13,  is still in the league seven years after being drafted. This is a clear indicator of his quality. However, he is now a member of the Cleveland Browns.

2013: Guard Brian Winters, third round, pick No. 72, now plays for the Buffalo Bills. He has delivered a quality career.

2011: Running back Bilal Powell, fourth round pick, No. 126, has been a very resourceful NFL skill player. He is currently a free agent, but the Jets squeezed a lot of production out of him.

Most notable Jets head coaches

Weeb Ewbank

Weeb Ewbank (pictured above with Joe Namath) is the greatest coach in Jets history. He authored the 1968 Super Bowl championship season, completed by the upset of the 18-point favorite Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III. It transformed NFL history and led to the AFL-NFL merger in 1970. Ewbank, who coached the Jets for 11 seasons, is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Bill Parcells, who guided the Jets to the AFC Championship Game in the 1998 season, is the only other Hall of Fame coach in Jets history, though Bill Belichick will soon join that group. Technically, though, Belichick never actually coached a game for the Jets. Pete Carroll will likely be inducted in the Hall one day as well. He coached the Jets for one season in 1994.

Here are some other notable football figures who coached the Jets in the past:

  • Lou Holtz: Member of the College Football Hall of Fame
  • Herman Edwards: Former player with the Philadelphia Eagles history.
  • Rex Ryan: Led the team to two AFC title game appearances
  • Joe Walton: Turned the Jets into a playoff team in the 1980s

Jets stadium

The Jets play at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, which opened in 2010 and replaced the old Giants Stadium. Just like Giants Stadium, both teams call MetLife Stadium home.

The venue therefore gets 16 NFL home dates every season. The stadium was host to Super Bowl XLVIII in February 2014, when the Seattle Seahawks defeated the Denver Broncos. This remains the only Super Bowl played in the greater New York metropolitan area.

Jets Franchise History and Trivia

The Jets’ last five playoff wins have all been on the road. The Jets’ last home playoff win was in the 2002 season against Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts.

Since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970, the Jets have won the AFC East only twice, 1998 and 2002.

The Jets’ last playoff appearance came in the 2010 season when  they lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC Championship Game.
