PokerStars Pros Somerville, Moneymaker, Others Headed To NJ For VIP Event

Some of PokerStars‘ top pros will attend a VIP Club Live event in Atlantic City next month in celebration of the online poker site’s arrival in New Jersey.

Just about anyone can attend and meet some of the top pros on the PokerStars roster.

The PokerStars NJ event, at a glance

PokerStars is hosting a day of events that features some of its Team PokerStars pros. Here are the top-level details:

  • There will be a day of events held at Resorts Hotel & Casino on Saturday, May 14.
  • Attendees include Jason Somerville, Chris Moneymaker, Barry Greenstein, Vanessa Selbst, Jennifer Shahade and Liv Boeree
  • The highlights of the day include a tournament held at Resorts and a VIP Club Live party at night.

How to get into PokerStars VIP Club Live NJ

There are a lot of ways to join the day’s events, but there is a cap on PokerStars VIP attendees at 350. The easiest way to get in is if you are SilverStar VIP level; if you are, you can purchase a pair of tickets to the day-long event for 1,000 StarsCoins. (The $10 value will be donated to Autism Speaks.)

You can also get in via a special freeroll. Here are the details:

  • The freeroll will take place on Sunday, May 1 at 5 p.m.
  • The freeroll will award a pair of tickets to the top 50 finishers, along with cash prizes.
  • To get into the freeroll, you can 1. Play one real-money hand at any stake level, 2. enter one real-money tournament or 3, make a qualifying deposit of $10 or more using the promotional code VIPCLUBNJ between April 18 and April 30.

People who have gotten their tickets via the VIP Club or the freeroll can bring a guest to the party at the end of the day, Guests must make a donation of $10 donation to Autism Speaks in order to attend.

The ‘Run It Up Rumble’ tournament

One of the big parts of the day is the ‘Run It Up Resorts Rumble’ poker tournament that starts at 11:30 a.m, The tournament is an homage to Somerville’s popular Run It Up Twitch stream.

The event will be played online, but live at Resorts — it’s being called an “onlive” tournament by PokerStars. In order to play, you need to show up, bring a laptop or a mobile device on which to play, and pay the $30 entry fee.

You’ll get a chance to test your skills against Somerville, and probably some of the other pros in the tournament.

The rest of the PokerStars NJ event schedule

  • 9 a.m.: Registration begins.
  • 10 a.m.: Breakfast with the Pros. Attendees can meet all the pros mentioned above for light breakfast and conversation in the Atlantic Ballroom at Resorts.
  • 11:30 a.m.: The ‘Run It Up Resorts Rumble’ starts.
  • 3 p.m.: Final table of the ‘Run It Up Resorts Rumble’.
  • 4 p.m.: Team PokerStars Q&A. Jason Somerville and other members of Team PokerStars will be on hand to discuss a variety of poker topics.
  • 7:30 p.m.: The VIP Club Live party gets underway at Landshark Bar & Grill. The evening will include an open bar, food, games and entertainment. The party will wrap up around midnight.
