New Slots From Wizard Games Arrive in NJ at BetMGM and Related Brands

Garden State residents have no shortage of slots to choose from, but now they have even more.

BetMGM Casino and Wizard Games announced today that they’ve expanded their partnership into New Jersey. BetMGM first tested out the new games in West Virginia, its smallest online casino market, starting in February.

Multiple Wizard Games titles will now be available at BetMGM’s NJ sites. That means not only BetMGM Casino itself but also Borgata Online Casino and Party Casino.

In a press release, Wizard Games Managing Director Joey Hurtado expressed his excitement over the deal:

Our partnership with BetMGM is one we’re extremely proud of, so naturally we are delighted to be expanding into New Jersey, one of the most iconic gaming markets in the U.S. Our games continue to perform well in the States and we’re very pleased to increase our footprint in North America.

BetMGM’s slots catalog is among the largest in the state, with over 900 games available. NJGamblingSites has confirmed that nearly a dozen Wizard Games titles are now among those.

What Kinds of Slots Does Wizard Games Offer?

With all those hundreds of slots to choose from, what’s special about Wizard Games’ offerings? BetMGM’s Director of Gaming Oliver Bartlett says:

Wizard Games combines innovative mechanics with exciting gameplay and themes, and we’ve been very impressed with how the products have performed so far.

Here at NJGS, we’ve tested the Wizard Games titles we were able to find at BetMGM Casino. Most of them are pretty approachable five-reel video slots whose uniqueness comes mostly from combining multiple bonus mechanics into a single game.

We’ll run down the key features of each in a moment, but first, let’s take a look at the one that stood out most to us.

Wizard Games Featured Slot: Mystery Fox

Mystery Fox has an odd, hybrid theme. It’s a game show set in Las Vegas featuring cute cartoon foxes. So, it already stands out from the pack based on presentation alone—no buffalos or Egyptian tombs here.

It’s got a 5×4 layout, and the core mechanics are simple and familiar. What stands out about it is that it features a true persistence mechanic. That’s all the rage for retail casino slots these days but much rarer to see online.

What it means is that each spin isn’t entirely independent of the others. You can gain some benefits which carry over from one spin to the next.

In the case of Mystery Fox, this comes in the form of Heart of Vegas symbols. Spinning one doesn’t do anything for you immediately. It does, however, add one heart to a meter located above the reel on which it appeared.

Those hearts stay from spin to spin. Collect four of them on the same reel, and you trigger a bonus feature. For the next four spins, that reel will become a full-column Wild. Naturally, you want to get this on one of the first three reels, where it will maximize your chances of making winning combinations. You can potentially even turn multiple reels wild at once!

There are also The Fox Show scatter symbols. Three or more of those will trigger a free spins bonus round. These give you a choice between taking a large number of free spins or a smaller number of higher-value ones. In the first case, the middle reel will be a full-column Wild. However, if you take fewer spins, you’ll get two or even three full-column Wilds.

Which Wizard Games Titles are Available at BetMGM?

In addition to Mystery Fox, we found ten other slots from Wizard Games’ catalog. These mostly have 5×3 layouts, though a few are larger.

Here’s a quick rundown of the special features of each.

  • Dragons of the North: Golden Eggs are Wild and trigger a randomly chosen bonus. During free spins, additional Golden Eggs have a chance to let you spin the Jackpot Wheel.
  • Wolf Riches: Mechanically very similar to Dragons of the North, but with a wolf theme and Full Moon symbols rather than Golden Eggs. Here, you can trigger the Jackpot Wheel directly, not only during free spins.
  • Spirit of Mustang: Has a “cash-on-reels” feature where Coins display a dollar value. The Collect symbol cashes in all your Coins and may trigger a jackpot round.
  • Alice Riches: Alice in Wonderland meets steampunk with two types of scatter symbols. The Queen of Hearts can trigger a bonus round. Six Top Hats lets you start respinning to collect more, trying to fill the grid for a jackpot.
  • Lucky Vegas: A traditional five-reel slot with a three-tiered bonus wheel activated by scatter symbols.
  • Jack in the Box: A carnival-themed game with extended center reels where enormous 4×4 symbols can appear. Jack-in-the-Box symbols only pop open after the reels stop spinning, heightening the suspense.
  • Torro’s Gold: A matador theme with two different types of scatter symbols.
  • Joker Joker: A traditional five-reel slot. Two or more adjacent reels on each spin will become “linked,” guaranteeing that they land with identical sets of symbols.
  • Fortune Dragons: 3+ matching symbols on any adjacent reels are a winner in this game – no need to start from the leftmost reel! Mystery Coins will fill an area—up to 4×4—with identical symbols.
  • King of the Trident: Undersea theme with an unusual 3-3-3-6-6 layout. Each spin has the chance to trigger a respin where the first three reels are guaranteed to come up as a 3×3 block of matching symbols!
