Ladies and gentlemen, the Odell Beckham Jr. soap opera now has an NJ sports betting twist.
Yes, we are talking about the former New York Giants wide receiver who seems to have once again worn out his welcome with his current team, the Cleveland Browns. So it’s time we address a very important question:
How and where can you bet on OBJ’s next team?
The answer is right here in New Jersey using the DraftKings Sportsbook app.
What are the NJ odds for OBJ’s next team?
Philadelphia Eagles fans who are suddenly excited about the possibility of landing a stud veteran wide receiver, calm down. The odds of him coming to the City of Brotherly Love and teaming with Jalen Hurts are quite slim. They were at +2500 as of mid-Monday afternoon.
Plus, OBJ going to a team that completed a total of 20 passes over the last two games isn’t going to fly.
How about a return to New York? Don’t count on it. The odds of him rejoining the G-Men and becoming the new favorite target of Daniel Jones are at +3500.
Let’s not even discuss the New York Jets at +6500. The Arizona Cardinals are the only franchise with longer odds (+8000).
So who are the favorites? Think NFL Playoff contenders. Here are the odds for the top teams in contention of landing OBJ:
- Saints +500
- Rams +500
- Patriots +600
- Seahawks +700
- Raiders +750
- Chiefs +1000
Why are we even talking about betting on Odell Beckham Jr.?
Well, New Jersey is one of those sports betting jurisdictions known for offering unique prop bets.
This includes wagering on the number of hot dogs consumed at the annual Fourth of July eating contest. But we digress.
Late last week, news broke regarding how Beckham was unhappy in Cleveland. Stories were circulating in the media regarding the situation. By Friday, the headlines were along the lines of Cleveland finalizing the process of releasing OBJ.
He did not play in Sunday’s 41-16 win over the Bengals. Judging by the score, they really didn’t need him. Beckham’s 2021 season totals do not exactly pop out (17 receptions for 232 yards and zero touchdowns).
So the question now becomes…
Where will OBJ land?
If you have a certain team in mind, don’t think about it too long. Several NFL teams could use as a veteran wide receiver as they battle over playoff positions.
So don’t expect this DraftKings prop to be available for too long.
