The 4-4 Philadelphia Eagles and 3-4 Chicago Bears will face one another in an NFL Week 9 matchup this Sunday to ultimately decide which team is an NFC contender and which is a pretender.
However, NJ sportsbooks may have made up their minds already on the NFL betting side of things, making the Bears underdogs in a game for the first time this season.
Philadelphia handled a tough test in Week 8, handing the Buffalo Bills just their second loss of the season.
The defense gave up less than 200 yards passing and 100 yards rushing in a 31-13 win. Carson Wentz didn’t wow anybody with just 172 yards passing.
However, the Eagles rushing attack was potent. Jordan Howard posted 96 yards on 23 carries, and Miles Sanders racked up 74 yards, even though he only carried the ball three times.
Heading in different directions
Now the Eagles are back to even and looking like a team ready to contend.
The Bears are headed in the opposite direction, having dropped to 3-4 when kicker Eddy Pinero missed a 41-yard game-winning kick against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
Coach Matt Nagy has come under some fire for choosing to run down the clock instead of trying to advance the ball to give Pinero a better chance.
Either way, the Bears continue to impress on defense and disappoint on offense. As a result, it appears oddsmakers have finally given up on making the Bears favorites this season.

Bears vs. Eagles history
The Bears once owned the Eagles and still hold a 30-15-1 record against Philadelphia. However, the Eagles are 3-1 against the Bears in the postseason, have won four straight Bears vs. Eagles games, and are 10-4 against Chicago over the past 20 years.
Of course, the last time these two teams met was the Wild Card round of last season’s playoffs. The Eagles posted a one-point road win in a defensive battle that ended 16-15.
The Eagles took the lead with under a minute by scoring a touchdown on fourth-and-goal from the two-yard line. Then, the Bears drove down the field and with 10 seconds left then-Bears kicker Cody Parkey missed a game-winning 43-yard field goal try.
Parkey was cut in the offseason, but the Bears kicking woes have obviously continued.
The Bears will be looking to make this latest chapter in Bears vs. Eagles history close, just not so close they’ll need a field goal to win it.
Fox will have live coverage of the game, which kicks off at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia on Sunday, Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. ET.
