It seems like oddsmakers never sleep. At least not during the NFL season.

That’s why even before the New England Patriots had wrapped up their 33-3 drubbing of the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night, the top NJ sports betting apps had already released most of the opening odds for the Week 2 slate of 16 NFL games.

Week 1 still had two Monday Night Football games to play but anyone 21 and older and inside New Jersey could already start betting on the Week 2 spreads.

Road favorite Eagles

The Philadelphia Eagles failed to cover a spread that had bloated to as much as 10 points before kickoff against the Washington Redskins on Sunday.

But the Eagles still won the game.

A slow Week 1 start forced the Eagles to come back down 20-7 at the half.

This week, the Eagles will head to Atlanta to take on a Falcons team that lost 28-12 to the Minnesota Vikings in Week 1. The Falcons turned the ball over three times leading to three Vikings touchdowns.

Plus, this game is in Atlanta, which could explain why Philadelphia is favored by just a point here. This is one of the Week 2 spreads you can expect to move before game time.

So, if you like the Eagles, and we know you do, get in fast.

Home underdog Giants

One week after the New York Jets blew a 16-0 lead to lose to the plucky Buffalo Bills 17-16, it’s the New York Giants turn to take on the Western New York team.

The Dallas Cowboys torched the Giants in Week 1 by a score of 35-17. As a result, this week’s all-New York matchup looks like a tale of two teams headed in different directions.

The Bills open up as 2.5-point favorites despite the fact the game is in New Jersey. However, it already looks like betting on the Giants won’t bring much but disappointment this season.

A fourth-quarter comeback in Week 1 looks like just the start for QB Josh Allen. Plus, this is a Bills team getting tons of respect from oddsmakers as a Week 2 road favorite.

Home underdog Jets

Like we mentioned above, the Jets had the Bills down 16-0 with 7:01 left in the third quarter. The Jets still found a way to lose. Despite the new season, this looks like the same old Jets team.

The Jets will open as Week 2 home underdogs. This despite playing a Cleveland Browns team that was completely dismantled in the second half against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

Big talking Browns QB Baker Mayfield couldn’t back it up. He threw three second-half picks on the way to a 30-point loss to the Titans.

Both teams will be looking to start over with the Monday Night Football lights in Week 2. However, the Browns still have the more talented roster.

Plus, the Jets have proven they still find more ways to lose than win. That means Cleveland giving away a point or less may not be a bad road favorite.

Betting on the NFL

If you’re going to bet on the Week 2 games or any other NFL action this season, make sure you pay attention to movement in the lines ahead of game time.

The lines posted above are just the opening odds. Things like injury and weather reports could force sportsbooks to change them ahead of the game.

Plus, more money bet on one side or the other could force sportsbooks to adjust the line. They do this to attract more action to the other side and reduce exposure.

If you can find these artificial line movements, you may be able to take advantage. You can take more points, or give away fewer, than what is truly warranted. Or, you can lock in the opening line if you think movement later in the week will work against you.

It’s also worth noting that so early in the season makes it a good time to wade into the NFL futures market.

As teams prove themselves to be contenders, the odds on them to win the Super Bowl go down. That means the price on most real Super Bowl contenders is better now than it will ever be.

The defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots are a perfect example.

The champs spent most of the preseason at +700 to win it all at FanDuel Sportsbook. That looks like a dream price now. The Patriots were seen at +500 after a 30-point win over the Steelers on Sunday.
