Resorts is already king of the NJ online sports betting market. And a big part of that comes from its ties with DraftKings Sportsbook.
But with Super Bowl 2019 days away, Resorts Atlantic City is upping the stakes by unveiling the Resorts-branded online sportsbook.
The site is live and taking bets as of this morning.
From Ed Andrewes, owner of EAGC, lead consultant to Resort Digital Gaming via a press release:
“Ahead of what promises to be an enthralling Big Game, and with March Madness just around the bend, there’s never been a better time to get in on the sports betting action.
“We’ve designed a sportsbook platform that’s easy to use, comprehensive in terms of betting types, and ideal for those who are familiar with sports betting and those who are new to the game. To cap it all our casino players can bet straight from their existing accounts.”
The latest from Resorts Digital Gaming LLC (the online gaming arm of the land-based casino) joins the previously launched DraftKings (Aug. 6 ) and BetStars NJ (Sept. 13) from the Stars Group platforms.
Since online sports betting launched in early August (DraftKings was the first to go live), Resorts has been No. 1 in the Atlantic City online revenue department.
The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement released December’s numbers earlier this month, and the combination of DraftKings and BetStars NJ produced $6,690,969.
What we know about the Resorts online sportsbook
The news of a Resorts online sportsbook has been in the works for several months.
NJGS caught up with Resorts President and CEO Mark Giannantonio last month outside of the DraftKings Sportsbook at Resorts Atlantic City.
He used the words “hopefully in the next month” when asked to address the status of the launch.
Here is more from Giannantonio from December:
“We have been working feverishly to get it launched, hopefully in the next month or so we will be up and running at Resorts Sportsbook online.”
Like many other NJ online sportsbook operators, Resorts has integrated its newest offering into the existing Resorts NJ online casino. This means customers will have access to a shared wallet for casino games and sports bets.
The types of sports bets being offered include:
- Football
- Baseball
- Hockey
- Basketball
- College sports
Powered by SBTech, the newest NJ gambling site also offers a variety of betting options including pre-game and in-game odds as well as singles, combo bets, system bets, parlay boosters, teasers, and more. It is also the first NJ online offering showcasing the SBTech platform.
Resorts also noted that the sportsbook app is available on any device.
More skins in the NJ sports betting game
Being Super Bowl Week, it should come as no surprise that Resorts is one of two companies to go live. But with this online launch, Resorts is the first to cap its sports betting skins. Each license holder is allowed three online skins.
Hard Rock Atlantic City rolled out its online/mobile sportsbook on Saturday. The retail sportsbook accepted its first sports bets Tuesday afternoon. Its omnichannel platform is powered by Malta-based Gaming Innovation Group (GiG).
As of Thursday morning, the total NJ online sports betting offering stands at 11. Retail sportsbooks number 10, for a grand total of 21 sports betting options before the Big Game.
But that won’t be the final count for long.
BetAmerica operating under the Golden Nugget license has been teasing a launch on social media.
The BetAmerica and Resorts sports betting apps share a common partner in SBTech, the award-winning global leader in omnichannel sports betting and gaming technology.
