DraftKings Reveals Free Super Bowl Squares Contest With $50K-Plus Prize Pool

DraftKings is squaring up for Super Bowl 2019 with its Big Game Squares contest.

For those asking how much does it cost to get in on the action, we’ve got good news for you: It’s free.

The contest is available on both the DraftKings daily fantasy sports and DraftKings Sportsbook websites/apps. Which leads us to the other great news.

The Super Bowl Squares contest at DraftKings is available across the US.

Unlike drafting a fantasy football team in Showdown Captain Mode or deciding whether to bet the New England Patriots (minus the 2.5 points), the Super Bowl Squares contest is much simpler: Pick one square and only one square.

DraftKings has set a $53,000 prize pool for the contest. The company also announced on the contest page that additional cash bonus prizes will be added for every 100,000 entries.

Call it a big deal for the Big Game.

Rules of the Big Game Squares for Super Bowl 2019

The game board, just like a company office pool, resembles a giant blank piece of paper made up of a 100 squares. Click the image below to expand.

The numbers representing the Los Angeles Rams appear across the left-hand column while those connected to the New England Patriots appear across the top.

But you need to wait until Super Bowl LIII kicks off on Feb. 3 to find out what numbers you have.

Here are the basic rules:

  • Click a square and select it. This square is yours for all four quarters.
  • At the start of the 2019 Super Bowl, DraftKings Sportsbook will reveal the randomly assigned numbers to the rows and columns.
  • If the last digit of both’s teams score matches your square, you will win a cash prize.

A prize pool by quarter

Cash prizes will be awarded at the end of the first quarter, halftime, end of the third quarter, and end of regulation.

Players with the winning number combo will earn a share of the following prizes:

  • First quarter: $7,950
  • Halftime: $15,900
  • Third quarter: $7,950
  • End of regulation: $21,200

Prizes will be paid as cash into the winners’ DraftKings account.

More details about Big Game Squares at DraftKings

For those trying to claim more than one square, DraftKings is allowing one per customer. Those identified as having more than one entry will be disqualified. Multiple players can have the same box selected, however.

Box selections can be changed up until the advertised start time of Super Bowl LIII (6:30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time). Once contest entries are closed, selections will no longer be accepted.

But wait. What if nobody wins?

If no player picks the winning square at the end of a quarter, DraftKings will roll the prize pool over to the next quarter.

DraftKings is NJ sports betting’s leader

DraftKings Sportsbook made New Jersey online sports betting history back on Aug. 6 by becoming the first mobile/online sportsbook to legally accept bets outside of Nevada.

The numbers tell the rest of the story.

Figures released by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement earlier this month provide proof that DraftKings is still king.

While FanDuel Sportsbook is gaining steam, DraftKings has a first-to-market advantage over its DFS rival.

In terms of online sports betting revenue, Resorts Digital (consisting of DraftKings and BetStars NJ) generated a market best $6,690,969 for the month of December. The majority of that revenue comes from DraftKings Sportsbook.

Yes, on Super Bowl Sunday, there will be a full menu of betting options available to DraftKings Sportsbook app users as well as at the DraftKings Sportsbook at Resorts in Atlantic City.

For the casual bettor who doesn’t want to worry about the total points, prop bets or moneyline, the Big Game Squares contest provides a low risk/high reward way of getting into the Super Bowl betting action.

And did we mention its free? To anyone in the US? OK then.
