Is the world ready for more gambling from DraftKings? The company is betting the answer is “yes.”
It is a leader in the daily fantasy sports industry. In four short months, its DraftKings Sportsbook has quickly become the dominant force of sports betting in New Jersey.
Now add to the list: a player in NJ online gambling.
The spearhead of a burgeoning an online NJ sports betting market, DraftKings on Monday rolled out its online casino in the Garden State.
Dubbed DraftKings Casino, which is integrated with the sportsbook via the app, the platform has a limited offering of games.
As of writing, only blackjack is available. Surely, though, the list will grow in the near future. That said, online poker does not appear to be in DraftKings’ plans.

As noted, the new DraftKings Casino is integrated with the DraftKings Sportsbook app. (Note: it is not available via browser just yet.)
With the shared wallet, bettors can step out of the single-game wagering arena to partake in a few hands of blackjack without leaving the app.

As it does in sports betting, DraftKings utilizes the Resorts Atlantic City license to operate its online casino.
DraftKings Casino is now available for Android and iOS users.
Online gambling in New Jersey has become quite reputable in 2018, as the industry has regularly reported more than $25 million since the summer.
By expanding to the online casino, DraftKings seemingly no longer pigeon-holes its customer base. The company has cast a wider net as more people gamble online than wager on sports.
Beating FanDuel to the punch — again
Over the summer, it became apparent that FanDuel would step into the online gambling market.
Following the Paddy Power Betfair acquisition, and subsequent rebranding to FanDuel Group, of the company, sources indicated that FanDuel would soon begin offering online slots and table games.
Paddy Power already operates the Betfair NJ online casino, and FanDuel offered the new ownership group to expand its target market to the nascent sports betting market.
Interestingly, Kip Levin, FanDuel’s president, told Online Poker Report that putting the FanDuel brand on the Betfair online casino was “something we’re considering.”
With tech providers IGT and GAN in FanDuel’s corner, such an idea seemed realistic. Though nothing has happened just yet.
In the meantime, DraftKings has stepped in. And once again, as it did in the mobile sports betting space, it beat FanDuel to the punch.
DraftKings is already a major NJ player
Over the past few months, DraftKings has seemingly become more known for its reputation in sports betting than daily fantasy sports.
The company became the first to roll out a mobile NJ sportsbook, activating its product in early August. Since, even as the crowd swelled to eight mobile sportsbooks, DraftKings has been the trend-setter.
Through the first four months of reported revenue, DraftKings has helped Resorts post $23,738,695 in revenue. (That is combined with BetStars NJ, though surely DraftKings carries the lion’s share.)
All told, DraftKings has accounted for nearly 61 percent of all mobile sports betting revenue. With online wagering continuing to grow (72 percent of November handle came via mobile), DraftKings remains a key player in the NJ sports betting industry.
Let us not forget, too, that the company has its name along the Jersey Shore after branding Resorts’ land-based sportsbook last month.
DraftKings has evolved into a heavy-hitter in New Jersey. Now it diversifies its portfolio by adding another amenity: An online casino, which itself has ballooned into a formidable industry after setting a state record with nearly $27 million in revenue last month.
