GAN Joins FanDuel’s Growing List Of Sports Betting Partners

FanDuel Group will be bringing its NJ sports betting operation to the internet, courtesy of GAN.

The US-based and B2B gaming software supplier announced Wednesday that it “is preparing to launch Internet sports betting in New Jersey for FanDuel.”

It is the first announced timeline for mobile sports betting. It’s also another step forward for the newly minted FanDuel Group, which has quickly taken over the sports betting industry in the New Jersey.

FanDuel Sportsbook goes digital

Just four days after opening at the Meadowlands Racetrack, and a week after online wagering became legal in the Garden State, FanDuel Group said it looks to launch sports betting in New Jersey by football season.

In the release were several “highlights” of the announcement:

  • FanDuel Group’s sports betting software will be integrated into the GAN platform.
  • There will be a FanDuel-branded website and mobile app.
  • Sports betting will be showcased as an “integrated extension” of GAN’s software platform Moreover, GAN will “participate in the incremental sports betting revenues.”

Part of FanDuel Group’s software is powered by IGT. The Meadowlands uses the technology when bettors place wagers over the counter.

The companies announced the partnership earlier this month. At the time, IGT noted there would be self-service kiosks down the road, as well as “other retail services … FanDuel Sportsbook-branded online and mobile wagering” using IGT technology.

“Online sports betting ‘go-live’ preparations for FanDuel are well advanced,” GAN CEO Dermot Smurfit said in the release, “and we remain confident in launching integrated sports betting alongside our existing Internet casino later this year.”

What GAN will provide

In short, GAN’s platform will provide a number of mobile and online services for the FanDuel Sportsbook, among them:

  • Storage of regulated personal information and banking data
  • Single account/wallet for casino and sports betting
  • KYC and geo verification
  • Responsible gaming controls, including limits and exclusions
  • Federal W2G reporting and withholding on both casino and sports winnings
  • Financial, operational, and regulatory reporting, which includes sports betting history

“The integration by GAN of our sports betting system is a reflection of GAN’s flexible technology platform, ‘can-do’ attitude and their overall commitment,” FanDuel CEO Matt King said in the release.

Continuing to move forward

After Paddy Power Betfair became its majority owner last week, FanDuel Group debuted at the Meadowlands.

The opening weekend generated more than $1 million in wagers for the racetrack. The Meadowlands joins Monmouth Park, Borgata, and Ocean Resort Casino as the fourth brick-and-mortar sportsbook in New Jersey.

In the first two weeks of NJ sports betting, which was legalized June 11, $16.4 million were bet at sportsbooks.

With the advent and development of online gambling, the mobile market is ready for sports betting. Now, FanDuel Group is in position to do just that when the most-bet-on sport, football, kicks off in the fall.
